What exactly is PVC?

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is like the "Transformers" of the plastics world, capable of being both soft and hard by adding different additives. Soft PVC used to make cards contains 30%-40% plasticizer, giving it rubber-like flexibility while maintaining the durability of plastic. This material maintains stable performance in environments ranging from -15℃ to 60℃, making it neither easily broken nor deformed in daily use.

Why choose PVC for card making?

  • Cost advantage: Raw material price is only half that of PETG.
  • Processing convenience: Easily achieves processes such as hot stamping and laser engraving.
  • Durability: Lifespan of over 5 years under normal use.
  • Safety characteristics: Meets child toy contact level requirements.

Usage precautions and alternatives

Although PVC cards have excellent weather resistance, prolonged exposure to sunlight will still cause the plasticizer to slowly evaporate (manifesting as a sticky surface). Important documents are recommended to be stored in a light-proof card sleeve. For situations with high environmental requirements, bio-based PLA material can be considered. Note that PVC is not resistant to strong acid and alkali cleaners; it is recommended to use 75% alcohol wipes when wiping.
